We are a production and broadcasting company created by multimedia artist Sophia Gordon. Our focus is on accessibility in the art world and maintaining a platform for experimental work. By hosting a variety of open calls and curating exhibitions, we hope to bring video art to a larger audience as well as encourage more artists to explore what video making has to offer to their practice.

TeleUphoria is an organization that seeks to create a safe space for artists of all experience levels. But most importantly, we are dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized artists and creating better opportunities for video makers.

What kind of content does TeleUphoria curate?

Our aesthetic and process is deeply rooted in analog and digital tape formats, but our passion for pushing the boundaries of technology and new media allows us to blend this seamlessly with modern digital techniques. While we are always looking for work that utilizes digital tape formats, we are in no way opposed to other methods of video making. We have a profound love of video in all it’s many forms and celebrate every format from VHS to Blu-Ray!

Currently, TeleUphoria Media Network is home to two separate stations (Miller's Grove Public Access and Channel 43). Both are on-going video art projects with a focus on exhibiting niche genres and underrepresented content within a television broadcast format. While MGPA is solely concentrated on personal experiences with mental health and raising awareness to fight stigma, Channel 43 is geared towards a variety of topics in the sci-fi and horror genres.

MGPA had it's start in 2018 as a solo video diary series by Sophia Gordon. After contributing a few of her public access shows to various group exhibitions, she decided to open up the project to other artists. In 2019, she hosted the station's first open call and the resulting group exhibition had it's first showing at The Green Gallery in Turnip Green Creative Reuse (Nashville, TN). The two month long run showcased two separate lineups featuring video artists from around the world.

In 2020, MGPA went virtual hosting two full weeks of broadcasts on Twitch. While in-person exhibitions are still of interest to us, TeleUphoria has found it’s true home in the world of live streaming.

Our newest station (Channel 43) premiered on June 12th, 2021 @ 8PM CDT and we aired scheduled reruns until the end of July. This broadcast was our longest and most ambitious to date! We featured 20 video artists, an ongoing storyline weaved throughout our commercial breaks, and we brought in a few collaborators for some of our broadcast segments. The full 237 minute broadcast has been added to our video archive and is available to watch on our YouTube Channel.

What about future plans and projects?

TeleUphoria will announce another addition to our network that will broaden our opportunities for artists while staying on theme with our dedication to underrepresented content. This new station will be revealed at the end of November 2021.

We still intend to release our instructional blog series, Video For All, which will bring you all you need to know about working with analog and digital gear in a DIY and lo-fi friendly environment. This series, along with our quarterly newsletter, will be available through Patreon. To learn more about our Patreon perks, visit the link in the main menu.

Though our specialties are in public access and niche genres, TeleUphoria is dedicated to storytelling of all kinds. We strive to bring art to everyone and are always experimenting with new ways we can exhibit work. TeleUphoria and all of our affiliates support taking art out of the gallery and into the community! With your help we can continue to grow and achieve our goals.
